VISION
GANDD exists to transform health care through the process of educating registered nurses to meet the nursing needs of the citizens of Georgia by providing quality undergraduate and graduate education, leading-edge research, excellence in nursing practice, and committed public service.
 
PURPOSE
GANDD serves as a unified voice for all Georgia Nursing Deans and Directors to create the preferred future for nursing education in the state of Georgia.

OBJECTIVES
  • Facilitate collaboration and networking among nursing programs in Georgia
  • Plan and conduct appropriate activities to address existing problems and strengthen nursing and nursing education at the local, state, and regional levels.
  • Collaborate with and influence state, regional, and national groups and stakeholders concerned with nursing and nursing education.
  • Provide leadership in educating a highly competent nursing workforce consistent with the health care needs of Georgia.
  • Serve as a resource for development of policy and programs that enhance the health of people of Georgia.

Sirena Sawyer Fritz serves as Program Director and Associate Professor of Nursing at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. In June 2020, she will begin her role as Chairperson for GANDD.  As Chair, she actively promotes the activities of GANDD and serves as a representative for the group at meetings and events.  Her term of office runs from 2020-2022. As Chair of GANDD, her duties include:
  • Circulating an agenda prior to meetings
  • Presiding at all GANDD meetings
  • Act as, or designate, an official spokesperson and/or representative for GANDD
  • Serve as Ex-Officio on all GANDD committees
  • Chair meetings of the Executive Committee
  • Submit a summary report of all activities at the annual meeting

Dr. Regena Spratling serves as Associate Professor, Associate Dean & Chief Academic Officer for Nursing at Georgia State University.  She will serve in the Vice-Chairperson for two years (2020-2022).  In 2022, Dr. Spratling will assume the duties of Chairperson for the organization.  The Vice-Chairperson is responsible for:
  • Assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Chairperson in the absence of that officer
  • Participating in the other duties of GANDD, as assigned by the Executive Committee or membership
  • Overseeing the operation and maintenance of GANDD website
  • Serving as Chair of the Bylaws Committee

Dr. Donna Ingram is Chair for the Department of Nursing at Middle Georgia State University.  In her role, she is dedicated to keeping an active accounting of the organization's funds, expenditures, and collection of dues.  She provides a report of the financial records at all meetings.  As treasurer, she is responsible for maintaining the organization's non-profit status and advises the group of any conflict. Her term of office began in October 2019 and will continue through 2021. Duties, as listed in the bylaws, also include:
  • Maintains funds and issues payments / checks
  • Keeps accurate accounts of finances

Dr. Shawn Little serves as nursing dean for Chamberlain University - Atlanta Campus.  In her position as Secretary (2020-2022), she is responsible for maintaining all permanent records of the organization.  She also records minutes at all meetings, highlighting the predetermined agenda for each meeting and is responsible for the advance distribution of minutes for review at future meetings.  Duties, as listed in the bylaws, also include:
  • Keep an accurate record of all business proceedings of the organization and the Executive Committee
  • Distribute a copy of the minutes of all meetings to the full membership within two weeks of the meeting
  • Serves as Chair of Committees, as designated by the Chair










Dr. Pam Dunagan serves as Director of the nursing program at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. The nominating committee shall consist of a chairperson plus two members, one representing baccalaureate/higher degree programs and one representing associate degree programs. The nominating committee chairperson shall take the leadership in working with committee members to prepare a ballot. Consent of the nominee shall be obtained prior to nomination by the Nomination Committee.  Nominations for each office will also be accepted from the floor at the spring meeting.  Dr. Dunagan was elected in October 2019 and will serve until the end of 2020.
